Walter Eldon Acuff, 81, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010.. Service is 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, in Bluebonnet Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Bluebonnet Memorial Park. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Bluebonnet Funeral Home.. Walter was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Mineral Wells to Eldon and Beatrice Burch. He joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Smith, Ark., where he met his beautiful bride-to-be, Marilyn Frances Brown. They married on Nov. 4, 1951.. Mr. Acuff was a career loan manager, retiring from Commercial Credit Corporation, and continued his career with other area banks. He set an example for his children about working hard and taking pride in all that we do. He was respected by all who knew him. He was a selfless, Christian man who devoted himself to the love of his life, Marilyn, and their four daughters. He cared about others more than himself, even in the grips of a debilitating disease. He had more friends than you could count, but he especially wanted to thank his friends at Willow Springs Golf Course for their friendship and support over the years.. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn Acuff; daughters, Deborah Acuff, Diana Peacock, Dona Rice and Julie Szumski; brother, Roy Acuff and his wife, Kay Acuff; sons-in-law, Roger Peacock, Lee Rice and Ron Szumski; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Getzendanner, Blake Getzendanner, Jay Allport, Tony Allport, Brian Rice, Kevin Rice, Meagan Rice, Ryan Szumski and Sara Szumski; and three great-grandchildren, Corinne Getzendanner, Lauri Sherrock and Autumn Sherrock; and many nieces and nephews.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
