Roger was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts on November 16, 1933. He was raised in the small town of Ashby, Massachusetts. His dream since adolescence was to become a pilot. Roger realized that dream after joining the Air Force. While attending training, he met Anita Pantel and they married in 1955. Roger and his growing family traveled around the country, base to base, as his orders dictated. Upon his retirement from the service, they settled in Willow Park, Texas, where he continued to pilot as a civilian until grounded at the age of 69.
Roger wanted folks to know he was a good man who provided well for his family, and a good pilot. Anita always said that was his first love.
He is survived by his wife, Anita, of Fort Worth, Texas; daughters, Kathy Speights (Richard), of Brazoria, Texas, Jan Wentworth of Sanger, Texas, Dorothy Mills, and Ann Mills, both of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Stephen Mills (Nancy), of Aledo, Texas, and Larry Mills (Glenda), of Weatherford, Texas. He is also survived by his niece, and two nephews in Massachusetts; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
May his spirit fly again.
