Weatherford - Richard Douglas Harcourt, affectionately known as "Doug," passed away on March 24, 2026, in Weatherford, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on August 27, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Vestal and Morene Harcourt, Doug lived a life defined by honesty, hard work, and the love of family.

Doug's path of leadership began in his youth in Tulsa, where he achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This early commitment to service and integrity set the stage for his professional life and personal character. Doug was also an accomplished trumpet player in early life and played reveille and taps at the Scout camp he attended and worked for.

In his early adult years, Doug developed a keen interest in human behavioral studies, which he translated into a successful career in personnel and human resource management. He was a respected professional in the field, primarily serving industries across Houston and North Texas.

When he wasn't navigating the complexities of human behavior, Doug was often found navigating the waves. A love of sailing he found his greatest peace and freedom on the water, cherishing the quiet strength of the wind and the call of the open water.

Doug is survived by his wife and soulmate, Sandra; his son, Todd and his wife Alesha; his stepson, Eddie Holyfield and wife Shannon; and his stepdaughters, Natalie Houghton and husband Troy, and Jennifer Coates and husband Andy.

His legacy of love continues through his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son, Scott.

In a moment of profound peace and tradition, the family will always cherish the memory of Taps being played by him one last timea final, beautiful salute to a life well-lived.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11 at 2 pm at Trinity Bible Church located at 4936 E. I-20 Service Road South, Willow Park, TX 76087. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Trinity Bible Church benevolence fund.
