Oma Marie Allen

Oma Marie Allen left her earthly body, entered the pearly gates and met her savior Jesus Christ face to face Sunday evening, the 29th of October, 2006.

Service is 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Mineral Wells with her eldest son, Jimmy Allen, officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Eddie Chenault, longtime family friend Kenneth Savell and grandsons Jared, Joshua, Jonathan and Justin Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Turner of California, Danny King, Albert Rincon and Matt Hopkins of Mineral Wells.

As a loving and caring Mother, church member, and servant of God, she dedicated her life to minister and improve the lives of others without regard to her own cost. We all rejoice as she has now received her perfect, heavenly body and eternal reward.

Oma was born May 14, 1930, in Bowie, Texas, but spent the greater portion of her life as a resident of Mineral Wells.

As a longtime member of the Westside Baptist Church, she encouraged her three children to learn the gospel and witnessed each as they accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. She taught Sunday School for all ages and served in any capacity called upon. Most recently, she was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, serving the church body as long as her health allowed.

Oma was a loyal and dedicated employee of Texas Packaging in Mineral Wells for 42 years, setting an example in her daily work performance that was admired by management and her fellow employees.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane, and husband, Eddie, Chenault of Mineral Wells; two sons, Pastor Jimmy Allen and wife, Debe, of Kerrville Texas, and John Allen and wife, Diane, of Weatherford; granddaughters, Karrie Chenault of Weatherford, Krystal Chenault of Mineral Wells and Ashley Allen of Baylor University in Waco; grandsons, Jared Allen of Lubbock, Joshua and Jonathan Allen of Kerrville and Justin Allen of Weatherford; great-granddaughter MaKayla Chenault of Mineral Wells; sisters, Lola Rowe of Mineral Wells and Lucille Sparks of Madera, Calif.; a brother, Larry Smith of Fresno, Calif.; and numerous nephews and nieces, along with many friends made over her 76 years of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Jessie Smith of Firebaugh Calif; a sister, Viola; and three brothers, Clinton, Melvin and a baby brother deceased at birth.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
