After moving to Monahans from Woodson, Nell graduated high school in 1943 and met her husband H.T. Cain at Pyote (Rattlesnake) Air Force Base in Pyote, Texas. The couple married on May 15,1945 at the Monahans Church of Christ, Ward County, Texas. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where H.T. began work at General Dynamics, and Nell began her long, successful career in clothing sales, working first at Lullaby Lane children's clothing and then at Neiman Marcus where she worked for over 20 years and received the Golden Stallion Award for sales. After retirement, Nell and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV and worked along the way managing RV parks in Texas and California. After returning to Fort Worth, they began working and living at The Palm House, a senior living community. After H.T. passed away Nell married a second time to Charles Winters, a high school friend. After Charles's death, Nell moved to Weatherford where she spent the remainder of her life near her children and grandchildren.

Nell was active in the Arlington Heights Church of Christ and Western Hills Church of Christ as well as several other congregations throughout her life. Nell loved the Lord and devoted her life to spreading the good news about our savior Jesus Christ. She loved to travel with family and friends and enjoyed hosting family gatherings in her immaculate homes. Nell found joy in preparing her famous chicken and dumplings, strawberry cake, and divinity candy (all favorite family recipes) for her children and grandchildren as well as playing games like Canasta and 42 with her husband and friends. She had a long heritage in Texas and was a member of The Daughter's of the Republic of Texas.

Nell was a devoted mother and later a cherished grandmother and great grandmother who's joyous and giving heart made her a blessing to all who knew her. Nell will be remembered for her genuine and loving spirit and way of making others feel special, her elegant appearance, fierce independence, sweet smile, young-at-heart quality and sense of humor, and deep love for her family. She had a knack for finding joy in the little things of life like a scoop of vanilla ice cream from Braum's or a Godiva chocolate.
