Lance Barnett, aged 77 of Dennis, Texas passed away July 14th, 2024 after a brief illness. Lance was born to Joseph Henry Barnett, Jr and Manzanita Kathryn Ayers Barnett on February 11th, 1947 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was raised in Lake Worth, Texas where he graduated high school in 1965. After graduation, Lance entered the United States Army where he served as an air traffic controller at the air base in Bien Hoa, Vietnam. Upon leaving the army, Lance returned home to Texas, living in the Weatherford area where he worked as a lineman for various companies and also farmed.
Lance was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters: Judy Farner and husband, Herb of Enola, PA, Karan Cameron of Weatherford, TX and Nicki Cox of Newcastle, OK. In addition to his sisters, he is survived by four nieces and four nephews, as well as, five great nieces and eleven great nephews who all admired and adored their "Uncle Lance."
Lance was a generous and humble man. He was a prolific storyteller and many of his stories would leave us crying with laughter. He truly loved his family and also loved spending time outdoors and gardening. He loved chicken fried steak and Dr. Pepper and made the best potato salad on the planet. Lance hated liver, sweet potatoes, snakes with a passion and Elvis! He was an amazing cook, a great listener and taught us more about life than we could ever learn with books or in a classroom. He lived a simple life on his terms. He was the best brother and uncle we could ever ask for. Lance, we are beyond heartbroken. We were so lucky that you were ours. You are so very loved and we will forever miss you. Until we meet again.
Arrangements are pending at the convenience of the family and will be handled under the care and direction of Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas.
