Kay Elaine (Platt) Mayo Obituary

Kay Elaine (Platt) Mayo went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, after a six month battle with brain cancer.

Kay was born March 22, 1947, in Weatherford. After graduating from Calhoun County High School in Port Lavaca, Texas, Kay studied nursing at Baylor University, and married the love of her life, Randy Mayo in July 1966. She was a devoted wife and mother to their three sons that became well known for providing her with many hours of colorful antics. Everyone was welcome in Kay's home including several family members from both sides of the family that lived with them on various occasions. There was always room in her home, at her table, and in her heart for anyone in need. Kay's first priority was devotion to her family, but in addition she served as a telephone operator, nursing assistant, business owner, construction secretary, and church secretary at First Baptist Hamilton.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy Platt, of Weatherford.

She is survived by her husband, Randy, of 50 years; sons, Keith, Tim, Scott Mayo; and 11 grandchildren; one brother, Frank Platt, and one sister, Debbie Martin.

Visitation will be Thursday Sept. 8, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton.

Funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hamilton.

Burial will be at Prairie Point Cemetery, in Bazette, Texas (near Kerens, Texas).
