Katherine Lynn Valtierra
Katherine Lynn "Kay" Valtierra made her final transition to rejoin her parents and daughter on February 16, 2020. Born on August 6, 1947 in New Boston, Texas, Kay lived most of her life in East Texas, Austin and finally in Weatherford. Survivors include her son, George Michael and his wife, Margaret; spouse, German Valtierra; and her brother, Abner Kestler and wife, Christy.
Kay retired from the Texas Department of Human Services where she began as a Medicaid Social Worker. She progressed to a supervisor of staff in East Texas, then accepted a position in the Department's State Office in Austin. Her experience in the Medicaid program positioned her to write policy handbook procedures for use throughout the state.
Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2020 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel located at 913 North Elm St. in Weatherford from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a rosary being said at 5:30 p.m. A memorial service will follow. Cards in lieu of flowers will be appreciated. Join us in bidding farewell to this kind and gentle lady who will be cremated and interned in New Boston where she will rest in peace with family who have preceded her.
