Lipan, Texas - December 11, 1967 - May 10, 2025

James "Jim" David Addison, 57, of Lipan, Texas, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born during a snowstorm on December 11, 1967, in Amarillo, Texas, Jim brought the same bold energy into life that the storm did on the day he arrived.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Cynthia (Cindy) Kay Addison; Daughter, Katie Lynn Addison and her wife Alyssa Thomas; bonus daughters Amy Hale of Brock, Kay and her husband Chris Sheehan of Graford, and Dawn Hale of Brock; his cherished grandchildren Zailey, Caiden, BreeAnna, Zyler, Brody, Zaycee, Odessa, and Coralee; and great-grandchildren Blaise and Zhakaya. He is also survived by his father, David Winston Addison.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Gayle Thomas-Addison, Grand Mother Lille Mae Thomas, and Grandfather Marvin Cecil Thomas.

A proud member of the Parker County Sheriff's Posse. Jim embodied grit and loyalty, with a "cowboy up" attitude. His heart belonged to music, his wife Cindy and daughter Katie. Music was Jim's escape, his passion, and a gift that came so natural. With hands made for building and "playing the hell out of anything with strings," the banjo was his weapon of choice. He played in the Double Mountain Boys alongside his father, and later with The Moonlighters, where he performed with his dear cousin and friends; Sherri George, Corkey Patterson, and Jerry Decker.

Those who knew Jim knew when he entered a room. Jim was loud, he was funny, and he made sure you felt his presence. Although he always dreamed of having a singing voice, more than anything, you heard his soul when he played his banjo.

He also shared an unbreakable bond with his dog, Lola, who once belonged to Katie but became Jim's steadfast companion after she left for college. At 18 years young, she remained by his side until the very end.

Jim lived loud, loved big, and left behind a legacy of music, laughter, and deep devotion to his friends and family. Though gone too soon, his spirit will live on through the stories, songs, and memories shared by those who loved him.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 17th at the American Legion in Mineral Wells from 12pm-3pm followed with a toast at Woody's Bar & Grill.
