Gary Meredith Acker, 69, was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly father on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.

A Celebration of Life memorial for Gary is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Southside Church of Christ in Mineral Wells in the activity building. Please join us and bring stories to share as we celebrate my him.

He was born Jan. 22, 1949, to Grady and Aleta Acker in Abilene, Texas. Gary began his life in Mineral Wells after he married his best friend, Bobbie Faye Haliburton, on June 7, 1968. Their greatest adventures began with the births of their daughters, Lisa and Renee. They added to their family by taking an extra daughter and grandkids under their wings.

Gary worked at Cantex as a maintenance mechanic for 40 years. He loved spending his time outside and he could build or fix anything he was asked to. Gary enjoyed being married to his "buddy" Bobbie and together they enjoyed raising their greatest accomplishments, their daughters. He and Bobbie enjoyed living on Lake Stamford after retirement. Gary leaves behind a great legacy on everyone he knew.

He is survived by his daughter, Renee; "adopted" daughter, Lisa Ann Hurley and her son, Garyn Robinson and his wife Angie, and son, Tres Hurley; sister-in-law, Frances Acker; brother-in-law, Jim Hairston; and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Aleta; his wife, Bobbie Faye; his daughter, Lisa; brother, Stanley Acker; and sister, Carole Hairston.
