Weatherford - Elaine (Florence) Hughes, 87, of Weatherford, Texas peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, September 10, 2021 at her home.

Elaine was born on November 24, 1933 in Livingston, Texas, the daughter of Rev. Rodger Q. Florence and Edna (Hubert) Florence. The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas in the mid 1930's where Elaine grew up and was eventually married on July 25, 1950 to her high school sweetheart Thomas T. Hughes. In 1961, Tommie, Elaine and their four sons moved to Weatherford, Texas where they made their home. Elaine was a devout member of Northside Baptist Church. In her pastime, she especially enjoyed volunteering in the community and at the Center of Hope, shopping for her classy wardrobe, bargain shopping and going to garage sales. Her favorite joy was spending time with family and friends and taking exceptional care of her yard and flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie in October of 2011; her parents; her grandson, Don Ferland; four paternal half-sisters; and a half-brother.

She leaves behind four sons to cherish her memory, Terry Hughes and wife, Judy, Steve Hughes and Cheryl Hughes, Mark Hughes and wife, Kim and Keith Hughes and wife, Pam, all residents of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Kim Paschal and husband, Randy, Joshua Hughes and wife, Zane, Michelle Hayes and husband, Jason, Tara Woody and husband, Chad, Micah Hughes and wife, Hayley, Christopher Jenkins and wife, Maribel, Stephanie Davis and husband, Don, Bryan Hughes and wife, Kristina and Colleen Hughes; Eighteen great- grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; siblings, Helen Perry and husband, Wayne and John Florence and wife, Lee; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at Northside Baptist Church in Weatherford, Texas on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment: Private graveside service at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
