Dorothy Parsley (Owens)

Dorothy Parsley (Owens) passed peacefully in her sleep March 27, 2014, in a Fort Worth Nursing home.. She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Oklahoma Territory to Henry and Allie Williams Parsley. She came as a babe in arms in a covered wagon to the Perrin area and graduated there and has been in the Mineral Wells area ever since.. In the late 1960s she co-chaperoned the Mineral Wells Youth Center with a cheerful, but watchful eye to keep our teens safe. She was an avid square dancer for many years.. In later life she took up a paint brush and developed quite a talent with oils and acrylics with the Mineral Wells Art Association.. Once she started attending lunch with the Senior Citizens Center her day and appointments were always arranged around the noon meal.. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 2-year-old son and brother Douglas Parsley.. Survivors include daughters Zane and her husband Jimmy Burnett, and Jean Owens and her husband Daniel Steedley; grandsons the Burnett boys, Montie and wife Trecia, Jeff and wife Maria, and Hank and wife Liz. Great-grandchildren Laura and Ross, and great-great-grandsons Landon and Kason. Sister Frances and husband Bill Davis and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.. There will be a memorial service at her home church Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at 11th Avenue Church.. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Senior Citizens Center.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
