Donald Alvis Cline Obituary

FORT WORTH - Donald Alvis Cline, D.D.S. passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Cemetery, with Pastor Lynn Crosslin officiating from Harmony Baptist Church, Weatherford.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to CCBC Global Mission Guatemala, 3701 Birchman Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76107.

Don was born in Fort Worth on June 2, 1935. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School. He attended Texas Christian University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan College and Baylor College of Dentistry.

Don served in the United States Air Force as a dentist and upon his discharge did oral and maxillofacial residency at the Veteran's Hospital in Houston in association with the University of Texas at Houston.

He returned to Fort Worth to open private practice of oral surgery. He practiced in both Fort Worth and Weatherford where he was loved by his patients and admired by his peers. He was a member of the Ft. Worth District Dental Society and served as its president 1987-88. He was also a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He made numerous trips with medical/dental teams to Mexico and Central America with Proyecto Huasteco y Sonrisa Alegre to rehabilitate village children born with facial deformities and cleft palates. Don retired in 2006.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and cards with "the boys", especially gin rummy but after retirement his passion was flying his Cessna Skylane 182. Friends and family will all miss his hearty laugh and generous heart. Don was an Episcopalian and looked forward to meeting Jesus Christ and a heavenly home free of pain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Alvis Cline and Flossie Ware Cline.

Survivors: Don is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Anna; children, Donald Scott Cline, Millsap, Sharon Kay Hagood (Robert), Hudson Oaks, Susan Elizabeth Verheul (David), Carrollton; step-daughter, Leanne Long-French, Van; grandchildren, Jordan Hagood, John, Sarah and Mary Verheul; brother, Neil Cline (Gloria) Niceville, Fla.; niece, Cathy Riley (Randy); grandniece, Addie; and the children's mother, Bettie Harbin Cline, Weatherford.
