David Adcock, 85, died May 28, 2013, at his home in Weatherford.. Memorial service is 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Dr. Mark Bumpus officiating.. He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Shreveport, La., the son of Frank and Georgia Reed Adcock. He married Gwendolyn Phillips on Aug. 19, 1949, in Texarkana, Texas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. He lived in Weatherford for the past 12 years and in Mineral Wells prior to that. He worked as a production supervisor and tool pusher for North Ridge Oil Company, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Weatherford. He never met a stranger.. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Adcock, of Weatherford; children and spouses, Debbie and Lee VanWinkle, of Durango, Colo., Mary and Dennis Duggins, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ken and Kim Adcock, of Houston; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Collin David VanWinkle.. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association in his memory..
