Charles W. "C.W." Webb, 79, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, at an Abilene medical center.

Charles (C.W.) was born to Cora Mae (Langford) and James A. Webb Aug. 22, 1926, in Weatherford, Texas. He graduated from Weatherford High School and Texas Business College in Weatherford. C.W. attended one year at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army for 30 years, receiving numerous medals. After retiring from the military, C.W. moved to Abilene in January of1992 and became self-employed as a tax consultant and an accountant. He was a member of North Park Baptist Church for 29 years, serving as a deacon. C.W. became an active member of Wylie Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Marthalyn Webb, March 11, 1996; a son, Carey Webb; three brothers, Boyd Ivan Webb, Jimmy Ray Webb, Paul Webb; and a sister, Pauline Young.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jo Webb, of Abilene; a son, Terry Webb, and wife, Lynette, of Arlington, Texas; three stepsons, Dwayne Fraser of Stephenville, Texas, Troy Fraser and Steve Fraser, both of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; a sister, Thena Kennedy, of Weatherford; two grandsons, Charles and Joseph Webb; seven step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 10, at Wylie Baptist Church with the Reverends Louis Johnson and Lee Fuller officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family received friends at a visitation Sunday at the funeral home.
