WEATHERFORD - Billy Jim "B.J." Davenport, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014.. Service is 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford. Interment will be in Whitt Cemetery.. Billy Jim Davenport was born Oct. 24, 1924, to J.D. "Dock" and Malissie Josephine Brock Davenport in Whitt. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later made his career in service to his fellow man as a Texas state trooper. B.J. retired from the Department of Public Safety in 1985 and was later named an honorary Texas Ranger. He was a godly man who is considered a hero by everyone in his family. B.J. loved his family dearly.. Survivors include his wife, Betty Davenport; children, Linda Conniff and husband, Trey, and Pamela Brittain Walters and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Kristen, Tiger, Dustin, Melissa, Casey and Blake; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Iris Fern Dillon; and a host of loving family and friends.. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Corene Mask Davenport; two brothers; and four sisters.. Donations may be made in B.J.'s memory to Gardendale Hospice, 10300 N. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
