Charles Richard James Lee, 75, of Weatherford, lovingly known as Jim, or PaPaw, claimed his final victory on Jan. 17, 2017.
Jim was born March 10, 1941, in Terra Alta, West Virginia to Ray and Ruth Lee. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, where he met fellow soldier Elvis Presley, transferred to Korea, and then honorably served in the Vietnam War.
He married La Juan Guiles on Aug. 28, 1975. He served the U.S. Postal Service for almost 30 years, first as a carrier, then as a Postmaster until his retirement in 2000. He was a square dance instructor and caller for many years, as well as a talented auctioneer.
He loved vintage cars from the 40s, 50s, and 60s, oldies and gospel music, travel and sightseeing, eating out for breakfast, the 10 acres of land he lived on, and he lived for his grandbabies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray Lee and Ruth Kimble.
He is survived by his wife, La Juan Lee of Weatherford; daughters, Lisa Warren of Grapevine, Angie Windle of Weatherford, Pam Griffin of Abilene; son, Stephen Lee of Weatherford; sons-in-law, Landy Warren of Grapevine, Philip Windle of Fort Worth, and James Griffin, of Abilene; granddaughters, Tressie Windle, Neeley Warren, and Kendyl Griffin; and new grandson Mark Lee Warren. He is also survived by his sisters, Geneva McIe of Rockville, Maryland, and Daresdean Kim of St. Joseph, Michigan; and his brothers, Farrald Lee of Harrison, Arkansas and Tony Lee of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Jim willed his body to UNT's Health Science Center for Research with the hope that it might aid in the knowledge and research of kidney disease and Dementia.
Rather than flowers, Jim requested that remembrances be given to his granddaughter Tressie's school, Victory Baptist Academy at 1311 East Bankhead, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
