Tonya Barbee Browning, 62, of Weatherford, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at her home due of natural causes.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be will be held at 10 A.M., on Saturday, January 6, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, in Weatherford.
Tonya was born on February 16, 1955 in Rankin, Texas to Robert Leroy and Janie West Barbee. She attended both Baylor and North Texas University to study Music Theory. Tonya was an accomplished pianist and piano teacher who "never forgot a tune." She performed at many concerts and received many awards for her unique style of playing - mostly by ear and from memory. Tonya was a frequent entertainer at the Parker county Senior Center.
Tonya is survived by her husband, Walter; mother, Janie Barbee Peters and step-dad Leonard Peters; sister, Pam Barbee and husband Jimmy Don Chambless; step-brother, Royce and wife Tammy Peters; her loved nieces, Jennifer and husband Brandon Pryor, Jill and husband Brian Manning; and by four great-nieces; one great-nephew; as well as her beloved and devoted canines, Frio and Flash.
Tonya was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leroy Barbee and by her daughter, Rachael Linn Baker.
