Mildred Leatherman Barr, 97, of Weatherford, was taken home on Nov. 27, 2016.
Mildred was born in Harrison, Michigan on June 23, 1919. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend.
Mildred was very active in her community, serving on the executive board of Horseshoe Bend. She was the 1989 Parker County Firefighter of the Year, Horseshoe Bend VFD Auxiliary Member of the Year, organizer and director of Horseshoe Bend bingo, Citizen of the Year of Tin Top and Center of Hope Volunteer of the Year. Mildred was also a very active member of Harmony Baptist Church and Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Ralph Barr and Bob Briggs; daughter, Dorothy Bavouset; son, Ted Barr; and grandson, Earl Dyess.
Survivors include son, Jerry Barr, of North Richland Hills, and his family; daughter, Candy Ogden, of Rainbow, and her family; daughter-in-law, Mary Barr, and her family, of Michigan; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
A special thanks to College Park Rehab and Care Center, and many good friends, especially Ruby Haynes, Nelda McDavid and Bill and Beverly Ellis.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5 at Harmony Baptist Church.
