Melvyn Bruce Blair


Melvyn Bruce Blair, 82, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford 76086.
Interment: 1 p.m. Monday at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Melvyn was born July 13, 1937 in Randlette, Oklahoma, son of Allen Gordon "Bill" Blair and Zeolah Gladys Brogden Blair. He lived in Springtown and Weatherford most of his life. Melvyn graduated from Weatherford High School and attended Weatherford College for 2 years. He met Melba Ann Chilcutt and they married September 16, 1960.
Melvyn worked as a store manager for Tandy Leather Company in Louisville, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during the Berlin Crisis. Following his service to his country, he had Blair Plumbing Company for several years. Melvyn also worked at Guardian Title Company in Wedgewood as Operations Manager; became a builder in Parker County as Mel-Na Corporation; and then was part owner in Hightower/Blair Real Estate Company. He later became a land developer in Parker County and was most recently Owner and General Manager of Five M Investors, LP.
Melvyn was saved at an early age and was baptized in 1951. He was formerly a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Springtown, serving as a Deacon and Music Director for many years. Melvyn was currently a member of North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, a member of Crazy Campers Club, and Weatherford College Booster Club.
Melvyn was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Melba Ann Chilcutt Blair; children, Mark Alan Blair of Springtown, Vickie Michele Hunsucker and husband, Chris, of San Antonio, and Myron Lester Blair of Weatherford; grandchildren, Michael, Jeremy and Joshua Blair, of Weatherford, and Croy, Carson and Kyleigh Hunsucker, of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Ace, Blaze, Maverick, Tage, Jayden, Bowen, Whitley, and Blakely; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Melvin served as contractor for our first home in 1994. We were young, newly married and needed lots of guidance. Melba helped with interior colors and gave advice on our kitchen layout. We have twenty -seven years of good memories in the home they helped us build. Thank you.
