Mavis Juanita Moser Thomas, 86, of Weatherford, entered the gates of heaven Sunday morning, November 12, 2017.
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017, First United Methodist Church, 301 South Main St., Weatherford. Interment: 2 p.m. Thursday in Oak Grove Memorial Park, Irving. Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, White's Funeral Home, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.
Mavis was born February 16, 1931, in Greenville, to the late W. L. and Hazel Moser. Before moving to Weatherford in 2000, Mavis lived most of her adult life in Irving, where she raised her children. She worked at Texas Instruments and retired from Auto Chlor System.
Mavis spent many active, happy years with Fred. Their fun times included bowling, camping with friends and family, antiquing and collecting, spoiling numerous Boston Terriers, going to Dallas Sidekicks soccer games, attending Johnny High's Country Music Revues, volunteering at the Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels, participating in activities at First United Methodist Church, and making friends wherever they went. Although recent years have slowed their pace, they have enjoyed being part of Brookdale Assisted Living Center for the past few months. Mavis, aka Mimi, will be missed by many loved ones, but we rest assured that she is now in the presence of God.
Her family who will be missing her include her husband of 42 years, Fred Thomas, of Weatherford; her children, Linda Stilwell and husband, Joe, of Aledo; Ricky Thomas and wife, Janet, of South Carolina; Brenda Tejeda and husband, Raymond, of Irving, Steve Thomas and wife, Debbie, of Weatherford, Teresa Alikhani of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Leslie Thomas of Oklahoma City, Okla. Mavis also leaves behind 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Spending time with these loved ones was her greatest joy.
