Ivy's Story

Ivy Lee Wilkins, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Weatherford Regional Medical Center with his family gathered around him.
Ivy was born July 15, 1932, to Everett Bivin Wilkins and "Miss" Lucy Ree Harris Wilkins in Hodgenville, KY. He was baptized into the Christian faith at the Rolling Fork Christian Church located in New Haven, KY.
Ivy joined the Air force in 1950 and served in the Korean War. Then was stationed in Bartlesville, OK at an AC&W Squadron where he met and married his "Babe."
In 1990, as area superintendent for Koch Industries Pipeline, Fairview Division, Ivy retired after 25 years of service. He then went on to work as a builder and assistant manager of the Asphalt Materials, Inc. plant located south of Millsap, until retiring again in 1999. Ivy and his wife, Sandy, after having made 21 moves, have resided in the Mountain River Community in western Parker County with good neighbors and friends for the last 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lulabelle (Wilkins) Dever; and his brothers, Lloyd, Jason, Donald and Robert Wilkins.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in the MROA Community Center. Pastor Jack Frazier conducted the service for the family and friends gathered to share memories of a kind and good man.
Ivy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra (Rowland) Wilkins, Mountain River Community; sons, Wm. (Bill) Wilkins (Roxie), Roanoke, and Richard (Chief) Wilkins (Pam) of the Mountain River Community, and daughter, Tia (Wilkins) Edwards (Troy), Bartlesville, OK. Also surviving are grandchildren, Justin Wm. Wilkins (Adrianna), Tucson, AZ; Travis W. Wilkins, Amber N. (Wilkins) Hickok (Jake), Tanner C. Edwards (Kelsi), all of Bartlesville, OK; Chase M. Wilkins, Arlington; Tyler L. Edwards, St. Petersburg, FL and Sarah A. Sowards, Toledo, OH. He was also blessed to enjoy his seven great grandchildren: Owen Wilkins, Gage, Jaycee and Jett Hickok, Addison and Beckett Edwards, and Zaida Jacobs. Also surviving is his older brother Wm. (Big Bill) Wilkins, special niecesKim (Wilkins) Estes (Todd), Nancy (Wilkins) Reishar (Joe), and Faye (Dever) Prather (Harold); numerous other much loved nieces, nephews, family, and a host of friends.
