Glenn was born August 9, 1931 in Merkel, Texas to Clifford E. Westenhover and Flora (Hendrix) Reese. He graduated from Merkel High School in 1948 and first attended Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University); then graduated from Hardin-Simmons University. Glenn was married to Florene Hutchens in Rochester, Texas on August 30, 1952. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force and was stationed at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Glenn later earned an MBA degree from the University of North Texas. His first son, Gary, was born in Denton on May 6, 1955. The family soon moved to Weatherford, where Glenn began teaching at Weatherford College in 1957. His youngest son, Mark, was born in Weatherford on August 30, 1958. For many years Glenn was the only accounting teacher at the college and trained many of Weatherford's now prominent accountants and other business men and women. After retiring, Glenn and Florene were able to travel throughout the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and other foreign countries. They enjoyed camping, hiking and other recreational activities with both family and their many friends. Glenn was a quiet and steady man, wholly dedicated to his family and church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. In their later years, Glenn and Florene invested much time and effort in the homebound department, visiting the elderly members of the church. Florene passed in January, 2011, just short of their 60th wedding anniversary, and Glenn struggled to recover from her sudden departure. His passion then turned to watching the Dallas Mavericks, Texas Rangers and other sports with family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his son, Gary and wife, Mary Jane, and his son, Mark and wife, Kelley; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Schroeder and husband, Bryan, Ryan Westenhover and wife, Jingjing, Ashley Westenhover, Elizabeth Svrcek and husband, Ivan, John Westenhover and wife, Caroline, Catherine Barrett and husband, Jake, Sam Westenhover and wife, Nix; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Schroeder, Lily Schroeder, Ethan Westenhover, William Westenhover, Anna Svrcek, Stella Svrcek and Joseph Svrcek.
