George Anthony Costa


George Anthony Costa of Weatherford Texas passed away May 30, 2019.
His funeral service and internment will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1 pm Monday, June 10, 2019
George was an artist, horseman, and aviator. He was born February 9, 1932 in Sacramento, California and is a graduate of Christian Brothers High School and Sacramento Junior College. He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles California where his artistic talent was noticed by Mark Davis, a renowned Disney Studios artist and instructor at Chouinard, who encouraged him to come to work at Disney. During the Korean War he served in the US Navy Reserve and was on active duty from 1952 to 1954 as the Navy Artist stationed at Naval Air Station Atsugi Japan. Following the war he had an extensive professional career as an artist, graphic artist, Art Director, and Graphics Manager for companies such as Walt Disney Studios, Kaiser Graphic Arts, Eddie Bauer, The Boeing Company, George Costa and Associates, and as a Graphics Consultant to many national corporations. Upon retirement he began a new career as a painter of watercolors and oils with paintings in private collections throughout the country. George enjoyed many years as a licensed aircraft pilot flying in the western United States. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A lifelong love of horses gave him years of enjoyment as a roper in the Northwest Rodeo Association. He was also a cutting horse contestant and he spent 2 years as President of the Northwest Cutting Horse Association. He was a long time member of the National Cutting Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. George was preceded in death by his parents, Frank V. Costa and Laurinda D. Costa and his sister, Elizabeth A. Costa.
Survivors: His son, James R. Costa and his wife, Sherry of Dorrington, CA and son William S. Costa and wife Carmen of Jupiter, FL; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

My name is Sarah and I work at the Pharmacy that Mr Costa got his prescriptions at. I really enjoyed seeing and talking with him. I’m so sorry for your families loss. We will miss him at the Pharmacy.
