WEATHERFORD - Esther Lurai Cox, 82, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, in Weatherford.
Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel, Fort Worth, with Barry Holmes and Jim Saunders officiating. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood.
Pallbearers: Alva Cox, Brent Cox, Chad Edwards, Dennis Cox, Jerry Cox and Rick Cox
Esther Lurai Cox was born Nov. 24, 1934, in New York City, N.Y., and was raised in West Virginia by her parents, Vernon and Josephine Snead. She met the love of her life, Alvin O. Cox in California and they were wed on Oct. 2, 1957, in Reno, Nev. Over the next 50 years, they lived all over the world while raising their three children before settling on their farm in Millsap. Esther was a member of the Millsap Garden Club, Eastern Star and Holder's Chapel Methodist Church for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband in their camper. 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alvin O. Cox; parents, Vernon and Josephine Snead; brother, Edward "Junior" Snead; and sister, Barbara Newhouse.
Survivors: Sister, Flora May Castro; daughters, Debbie Ziesler, Verna Carr and husband, Roger and Becky Jeffries; sons, Alva Cox and wife, Tina and Dennis Cox and wife, Marci; granddaughters, Deshaun Edwards and husband, Chad and Jenny Carr and Kathy Welker; grandson, Ricky Jeffries; stepgrandchildren, Randal Valdez and wife, Amber and Sheena Pollard and husband, Cody; great-granddaughters, Clancy Edwards and Carlee Welker; and stepgreat-grandsons, Jordan and Collin Valdez.
