Chaplain (Col.) H.'s Story
Harold Donald Thompson, beloved and cherished by his family and friends, completed his life's work on Feb. 12, 2017.
He lived a faithful servant's life and was the rock of his family, overseeing his family with love, wisdom, humor, and joy. He lived a full life and left a rich legacy of character, servanthood, and a zest to live and learn daily. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Donald was born in Weatherford on March 29, 1930, to Clarence and Loree Thompson.
Survivors: wife of 70 years, Lois; children, Steve Thompson, Tim and Terri Thompson and Patty Thompson; grandchildren, Mike, Philip, Ashley, Melissa, Emily, Nathan, and Daniel; three great grandchildren, Baeleigh, Hynlee, and Caleb; siblings, Wayne and Nell Thompson, Leslie and Latricia Thompson and Kathy and Glenn Densmore.
Donald received a Bachelor's of Agricultural Engineering, a Master's in Divinity and in Religious Education. Donald pastored at Greybull Baptist in Wyoming, Harmony Baptist, Hilltop Baptist, and was the Senior Adult Minister at North Side Baptist Church, Weatherford. He served as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army for 27 years and retired with the rank of Chaplain Colonel. He served one tour of combat in Viet Nam and two tours in Germany. He was a middle school science teacher at Springtown ISD.
Service: 2 p.m, Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at North Side Baptist Church.
Interment: Memory Gardens Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Memorial: NSBC Building Fund.
