Carl Elder devoted his life to the service of God. He pastored churches in Texas, Alaska, and Ohio. He started new churches in several locations in Texas. He worked as a consultant with the Baptist General Convention of Texas helping with new church starts, bi-vocational ministry, and small church achievement. He never met a stranger and after a brief encounter in a public place he would say he had a new friend. His family was his joy. He loved each member deeply. Praying for each family member daily was a lifelong practice. He will be missed greatly.
Survivors: wife of 63 years, Wynona; two daughters; one son; two brothers; one sister; and a large extended family. A host of friends and former church members also survive him.
