Bobby's Story

Bob L. Elder (Cowboy), 86, of Brock passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, in Weatherford. He was born in Bridgeport, on June 2, 1930, to Edgar Lee and Buna (Yeats) Elder.
Bob was a man who wore many hats: Staff Sgt. United States Air Force (four years), a Texas Christian University graduate, a teacher, coach and superintendent of schools, a Founding Father of Texas Rural Water, Captain of the Johnson County Sheriffs Posse in 1965, a 40+ year member and Captain of the Parker County Sheriffs Posse in 1991 and a member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #792 for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Elder of Brock; sons, Blake Elder of Fort Worth, Wade and Linda Elder of Fort Worth; and their children; brother and sister-in-law, Ret. Colonel Kelly Purvis and Elloys Purvis of Weatherford; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and former students.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nelda and husband Bobby James Culpepper; brother and sister-in-law, Larkin H. and Romona Evans; father and mother-in-law, Herman and Elsie Evans.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at Brock Baptist Church with burial following at Brock Cemetery.
