Benny Ray Cardwell, 76, passed away May 12, 2017, at his home.
Benny was born Sept. 29, 1940, and was raised in Weatherford. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1959. After attending Weatherford College, he attended UNT in Denton. Benny served for three years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, Okinawa, and at Fort Bliss in El Paso. He worked his entire career at Pope Laboratories of Dallas-Irving. Benny lived in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Benny is survived by his son, Guy, of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Autumn and Travis Cardwell; great-grandchildren, Mason, Adam and Emma; and by his brother, Gary and wife, Vanessa Cardwell.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Era Cardwell; brother, Bob Cardwell; and by his daughter, Lori Cardwell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, May 18, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 19, at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.
