Benjamin Lionel Hanegan, 75, of Weatherford passed away, Thursday, October 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born May 21, 1942 in Carson, Mississippi to Elmo and Marcelene Daily Hanegan. Benjamin retired from Mitchell Energy where he worked for over 25 years. He had also owned and operated Ben's Texaco on North Main Street for over 6 years. He was a hard worker, enjoyed playing Bingo, scratching lottery tickets, and watching Gunsmoke. Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Alfonse, Michael, Timmy and Rayford and a sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathy; children, Rosemary King and husband Maxie of Abilene, Marsha Hanegan and Ben Hanegan both of Weatherford; grandchildren, Roselee Merrick, Bonnie King, Kendra Escamilla, Schuyler and Jeromy Lanier; four great grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Bass of Mississippi, Anna Laura Harrington of Rowlett and Ivy Rose Sylvest of Mississippi; brother, David Hanegan of Mississippi; numerous nieces and nephews.
A family gathering to memorialize Benjamin's life will be held at a later date.
